The original document was derived from the results of a recent consultation on Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship and is intended to highlight actions that will drive the agenda forward over the 3 year period of 2006-2009.

Sept 2008 - In the Further Education Sector in Wales

This is an information document to aid delivery of ESDGC in FE colleges. The ‘Themes’ identified in the ‘Common Understanding for Schools’ document cover the range of ESDGC and support the delivery of ESDGC through academic and vocational subjects, relevant non-statutory frameworks and the 14-19 Learning Core. This document also supports delivery of the Welsh Baccalaureate.

August 2008 - Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship in adult community-based learning and youth work in Wales.

The purpose of this report is to provide the Welsh Assembly Government with a position statement on the work currently delivered to adult community-based learners and young people in youth work settings about sustainable development and global citizenship and to recommend ways forward for the development of this work.

Summer 2004 - Enabling Effective Support (Wales) draft strategy

Enabling Effective Support (EES) is a UK wide initiative that has been developed by the Department for International Development (DFID) in response to the need for a more systematic approach to education for global citizenship. It isn’t something new. It is about identifying and supporting the most effective mechanisms that will help to bring about ‘global citizenship’ and build upon what has already been achieved.

Education for Sustainable Development & Global Citizenship booklet

The booklet sets out why schools should promote education for sustainable development and global citizenship. It provides some basic definitions, together with examples of existing good practice, so that schools can learn from others about how to develop learning opportunities. The booklet also includes the Estyn guidelines for inspecting and evaluating education for sustainable development and global citizenship and identifies useful websites and forthcoming support.
